Christ Lives!: A Pilgrimage to the Holy Land (archival recording) - by Swami Kriyananda - Digital
An Oratorio composed, arranged, and narrated by J. Donald Walters (Swami Kriyananda)
Original 1984 Edition (archival) - Remastered
In the tradition of Handel's Messiah, "Christ Lives!" is a contemporary Oratorio that vividly brings to life the deep meaning of Christ's life. Composed after Swami Kriyananda (J. Donald Walters) visited the Holy Land in 1983, "Christ Lives!" brilliantly captures the profoundly inspiring and uplifting experience that Kriyananda felt as he traveled in the footsteps of Jesus. Moved to share that inspiration with the world, Kriyananda composed this Oratorio, already considered by many to be a contemporary masterpiece.
"Christ Lives!" has evolved greatly since its composition in 1984, as Kriyananda continued to update and refine his work. This recently re-mastered archival recording from 1984 contains one of the earliest versions of the Oratorio, with Swami Kriyananda reading his original narration of the work.
He later removed the narration, feeling that the back and forth between music and narration was distracting for the audience. We offer this archival version in the spirit of sharing some of the history of the Oratorio, but want to be clear that this is not meant to replace the present version.
As music alone can do, "Christ Lives!" reaches the soul with both the message and spirit of Christ's life, and His call to all seekers to awaken the Divine within.
